At Sailors Hub, we aim to build a trusted, safe, and respectful platform for seafarers, employers, maritime colleges, and industry professionals. These Community Guidelines define the expected behavior and standards for all users. Your use of Sailors Hub confirms your agreement to these guidelines, along with our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

1. Be Authentic

  • Provide truthful information in your profile, including professional background and seafarer certifications.
  • Do not impersonate others, create fake accounts, or misrepresent your credentials (e.g., CDC number, rank, experience).
  • Only post content you have created or have permission to share.

2. Be Respectful

  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with other users.
  • Do not post or share content that is discriminatory, hateful, harassing, or violent.
  • Avoid using vulgar, sexually explicit, or offensive language.

3. Maintain Professionalism

  • Use the platform for its intended purposes: networking, recruitment, education, and professional development in the maritime industry.
  • Do not engage in spamming, promotion of unrelated services, or phishing attempts.

4. Child Safety & COPCA Compliance

Sailors Hub is committed to protecting minors online and complies with applicable child protection laws, including:

  • COPCA (Child Online Protection and Cybersecurity Act): We do not allow any form of content that exploits, endangers, or targets children.
  • Child Safety Policy: Sailors Hub prohibits users under the age of 13 from using the platform. If any account or content involving a minor is found to violate child safety norms, it will be immediately removed and reported to appropriate authorities.
  • Zero Tolerance: Any attempt to contact minors for inappropriate purposes, share harmful content, or impersonate underage individuals will result in immediate account termination and legal action.

5. Respect Privacy and Consent

  • Do not share others’ personal information (e.g., contact details, CDC numbers, documents) without their consent.
  • Do not post screenshots or messages that include others without permission.
  • Respect profile and content visibility settings of other users.

6. Post Appropriate Content

Allowed:

  • Maritime job opportunities, seafarer stories, professional tips, educational content, verified events.

Not Allowed:

  • Misinformation, fake job listings, copied or plagiarized content, non-maritime promotions, sexually explicit material, or political propaganda.

7. Platform Integrity

  • Do not use bots, automation, or fake engagement tools.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt platform functionality, breach data, or scrape user information.
  • Report bugs or suspicious activities responsibly through official channels.

8. Employers & Colleges

  • Post only verified and authentic job or course listings.
  • Avoid discrimination or bias in recruitment or admission practices.
  • Do not misuse candidate or student data; act in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

9. Reporting Violations

You can report:

  • Fake profiles
  • Harassment, abuse, or threats
  • Child safety risks
  • Inappropriate content
  • Scams or phishing

10. Enforcement & Action

Violations may result in:

  • Content removal
  • Warning or suspension
  • Permanent ban
  • Legal action (especially for child exploitation, impersonation, or fraud)

We review violations on a case-by-case basis and take appropriate steps to protect our community.
